On the way to school this morning the girls were discussing penguins. The Big One asked the Little One if she knew what penguins did with their eggs. The Little One didn’t so here was the explanation:
“When the mummy bird lays the egg she gives it to the daddy penguin to look after while she walks a long way to get some food. When she comes back weeks later, the daddy gives her the egg, or the chick if the egg has cracked and he goes off to get some food. It’s just like when Daddy looked after us the when Mummy went to work for a few days. Then they swapped and Daddy went to work for a few days and Mummy looked after us.”
The Little One summed up the conversation: “So, Mummy and Daddy are like penguins?”
“Just like penguins!” the Big One replied.
I’m just glad the girls didn’t have to stand on my feet the whole time my Lovely Husband was away!
